Self-Validation

Self-Validation is understanding and accepting your thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences. The need to validate these emotions and thoughts are important because they help you find wisdom and how to manage your emotions. How does one practice self-validation? Here are some tips that can you practice.

The first step you can take is to ground yourself, to be aware of your emotions and thoughts. One way to ground yourself is to inhale deeply and exhale. Controlling your breathing helps bring you to the present.

Another step or tip is to take time to reflect and acknowledge your emotions. This helps you actuarily label the emotion you are feeling, and what triggered it.

A very important step everyone should do, is normalize what you are feeling. Normalizing your feelings, helps you understand that its normal to feel mad or sad. Other people would react the same if something positive or negative happened to them. Your feelings are valid!
